Rice felds undergo continuous exposure to biotic and abiotic stresses
that marked reduce rice yields due to diseases, insect infestation, and
environmental factors. Climate change, land, water, and biodiversity
degradation cause further changes in the rice production systems. Rice
farmers in Malaysia have to ensure a sustainable food production system
and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity
and yield in order to thrive. The sustainable system helps to maintain the
ecosystems, enhance the capacity to adapt to climate change, extreme
weather, drought, fooding, salinity and progressively improve land and
soil quality while maintaining a good genetic diversity of seeds.
